In July 2013, Robert Painter, an attorney at Painter Law Firm PLLC, was elected to membership in the prestigious Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation. Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout the state of Texas. Election to the Foundation is a mark of distinction and highlights Painter's significant contributions to the legal profession.
Selection as a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas, as each year only one-third of one percent of State Bar members are invited to become Fellows. Once nominees are selected, they must then be elected by the Texas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. Since its inception in 1965, membership has grown from an initial 254 Charter Fellows to more than 7,500 Fellows throughout Texas today.
Painter's practice focuses on handling complex litigation matters in state and federal courts with emphasis on medical malpractice and commercial claims. In 2012-13, his representation of the President of Mongolia, Tsakhia Elbegdorj, made international headlines for successfully preventing the sale of a smuggled Tyrannosaurus fossil, which was returned to Mongolia in May 2013.
The Texas Bar Foundation is the largest charitably-funded bar foundation in the country, with the mission of soliciting charitable contributions to provide funding to enhance the rule of law and the system of justice in Texas. To date, the Texas Bar Foundation has distributed more than $14 million throughout Texas to assist nonprofit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services.
